The CEATY project, which stands for "Clean Energy Ambassador Training for Youngsters", is
a joint effort between partners from Bulgaria, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, and the Netherlands.
The project aims to educate and inspire young people aged 12-16 about the importance of
sustainable energy practices, how to reduce climate change and the use of renewable
energy. The project aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to spread the
message about clean energy. This will help the EU reach its ambitious target of net-zero
emissions by 2050.
The project has a digital learning platform, an online game called
"Footprint Warrior" and an e-library. These tools are designed to make sustainability
education fun and easy to access, with interactive content, quizzes, and games. By
completing the program, students not only gain important knowledge about energy
efficiency and looking after the environment, but they also earn certificates that recognize
them as Clean Energy Ambassadors. The materials, which are available in English and the
partners’ languages, can be used by anyone for free, which makes them accessible to a wide
range of people.
Before the project was set up, surveys were carried out across the countries to identify the
needs. This information was the base for the creation of learning materials for students,
parents, and teachers. Seminars and pilot tests were held to make sure that the materials
were of high quality for teaching and learning, and that they would work in practice. Events
like Clean Energy Info Days and creative workshops were organized in schools, where
students and teachers could try out the project's resources for themselves. Activities
included energy-saving lessons, online quizzes, and creative projects like making sustainable
models and comic books.
The project also encouraged students to share what they had learned with their friends,
families, and the wider community, making a bigger impact outside of the classroom. By
working with teachers, energy experts, and local organizations, CEATY has created a strong
plan for including sustainability in education.
As the project ended, its tools and materials were shared at events and online so they could
continue to be used in schools and communities. The final international conference in
Turkey, which showed CEATY's success, highlighted the role of education in creating a
sustainable future, preparing young people to lead the fight against climate change, and
encouraging renewable energy practices.
